Laura Harris

Laura Harris is a cultural sociologist working as a Lecturer at the University of Southampton. Her research deploys visual methods to explore place and the construction of atmospheres. She often works closely with artists or arts organisations, drawing on training across visual art and sociology. She has previously been awarded an Anniversary Fellowship at the University of Southampton, and ESRC Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Edinburgh, and she completed her PhD at the University of Liverpool in collaboration with Bluecoat, Liverpool’s centre for the contemporary arts. She is book reviews editor at the British Sociological Association journal Cultural Sociology.
