Milka Car

Milka Car is a Full Professor at the University of Zagreb. She studied Comparative Literature and German Studies at the University of Zagreb. From 2000 assistant lecturer at the Department for German Language and Literature at the Faculty of Humanistic and Social Sciences in Zagreb; from 2009 assistant professor, from 2020 full professor. Master’s thesis on the reception of German drama in Croatian theatre in Zagreb 1894-1939 (2003); doctoral thesis on the German documentary novel in the last third of the 20th century (2008). Reviewer of contemporary German literature for the 3rd programme of the Croatian Radio. Longer study visits to Vienna (ÖAD) and Munich (DAAD). Participation in several bilateral and international projects as well as international conferences. Editorial board member for the journals Zagreber Germanistische Beiträgeand Umjetnost riječi.

Research interest: theatre reception phenomena, documentary literature, intercultural literature and cultural transfer, contemporary germanophone literature
